Superintendent Search Committee


The State Board Superintendent Search Committee is in the process of meeting to plan and execute the search for a replacement for Martell Menlove, who will retire this year. On March 28, 2014, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Menlove announced his retirement, but agreed to remain on the job until the Utah State Board of Education could name a new superintendent.

In its meeting on April 4, 2014, the Board voted to create a search committee. The Superintendent Search Committee is comprised of the following voting and non-voting Board members:

Kim Burningham
Dan Griffiths
Leslie Castle
Jennifer Johnson
Heather Groom
David Crandall
Jefferson Moss
Debra Roberts
Barbara Corry
Freddie Cooper

The Committee has met multiple times, including at: 7 p.m. Wednesday, April 16; 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 22; and 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 29. All meetings were open to the public.

On May 9, the full State Board of Education approved a position announcement for the job. On May 23, a Request for Proposal for a national recruiter was made public.
