Notice of Vacancy/Call for Nominations: Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired Advisory Council


Name of organization: USOR—Division of Services for the Blind and Visually Impaired Advisory Council (DSBVI)

Brief background of what the organization does and the reference in statute or rule establishing the organization:  The council is established in Utah Code 53A-24-2(305) The Council’s purpose is to advise and assist in matters relating to the needs of individuals who are blind or have visual impairments, and the activities of DSBVI.

Date nominations are due to Board Secretary: December 30, 2015

Who the group advises: USOR, DSBVI, and the State Board of Education

Number vacancies: Two (2)

Specific representation needed for each vacancy and the terms of appointment: Both vacancies are for consumers who are blind or visually impaired. The term was expected to begin June 1, 2015 through June 30, 2018. The appointment is for the remainder of the term.

Person(s) currently in the positions open for vacancy: Glenn Peel and Bill Clapp

Meetings (how often, where, and for how long): Meetings are held at least quarterly, and are scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. the first Thursday in the months of February, May, August and November.

Other information: Potential members who are not consumer may be considered, as the council has sufficient required representation from consumer groups. Service providers, employers and proprietors would also be considered.
