Brief background of what the organization does and the reference in statute or rule establishing the organization:  The Governor’s Committee on Employment of People with Disabilities is established in 53A-24-114.  The purpose of the Committee is to develop and disseminate appropriate information through workshops, meetings, and other requests in response to needs to employers and others regarding employment of individuals with disabilities.  The State Board of Education shall appoint at least twelve members to the committee from various capacities in public and private sectors.

Who the group advises:  The State Board of Education, the Governor, and the Executive Director of the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation.

Business advocates in various fields that represent the following backgrounds:
Job training or placement
Job training or placement/state agency
Business and industry/ Utah Business Employer Team

Term:  January 2015-January 2019

Meetings (how often, where, and for how long):  Every other month on the third Wednesday, starting with January, from 11:00 to 1:00.  Usually held at the Utah State Capitol Complex unless during the legislative session—then at one of the committee members’ offices.
